Timothy H. Joyce, Ph.D.

Dr. Joyce is Of Counsel at Nevrivy Patent Law Group. His practice focuses on counseling emerging and established companies in all aspects of intellectual property law, with a focus on the chemical, life science, pharmaceutical, and medical device industries.

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Joyce was Director of the Molecular Biology and Chemistry intellectual property group at Applied Biosystems, Inc., in Foster City, CA, where he managed large intellectual property portfolios and a team of attorneys and agents for the company. Dr. Joyce also has experience handling complex transactional matters and counseling clients regarding management of IP risks and threats.

Prior to his experience at Applied Biosystems, Inc., he spent 7 years as an in-house Corporate Counsel at Hewlett Packard/Agilent Technologies, Inc. in Santa Clara, CA where he handled a full range of legal and management responsibilities, including portfolio management and management of outside IP counsel and foreign associates. Dr. Joyce also has significant experience conducting freedom to operate investigations in the chemical and life science areas. Prior to Agilent, Dr. Joyce was a senior associate with the law firm of Baker & McKenzie in Palo Alto and an associate with the boutique law firm of Blodgett & Blodgett, PC in Boston, MA.
